The national carrier Airindia has been plagued by a lot of internal issues post the merger of Indian Airlines and Airindia in 2007 .Despite many interventions from the management , the HR issues have haunted the airline time and again.The disgruntled staff further resulted in the deterioration of services.With no one to take ownership of the erstwhile Maharaja which once was the pride of the nation , Airindia further lost out due to fierce competition with private players which had a new fleet and no legacy to carry forward

Mr Lohani , an engineer holding four engineering degrees was the driving force behind MP Tourism and single handedly brought the ailing MP toursim properties into profit.Once known for its loss making units and disinterested staff , MP tourism now boasts of the best of hotels and staff which has a sense of ownership and strives to do his best
A chance meeting with the CMD of Airindia , Mr Ashwini Lohani was enough to understand why they call him a hands on person.Famous for cutting the red tape by taking quick well informed decisions , Mr Lohani is known for keeping communication channels open across the entire value chain of aviation
His phone is never switched off and he is accessible to any and every body from a cargo loader to a ground staff.This speaks volumes for his energy , commitment and intent of getting things done
Keeping fingers crossed , hoping that things turn around at Airindia and with the new fleet and favourable oil prices , Mr Lohani is able to restore the glory of the Maharaja
